Portfolio

Portfolios....

There is a great thing called "The 11:30 Club" where you can have you work reviewed by industry editors and photographers such as Jimmy Colton, Nancy Andrews, David Griffin and more. Bring your portfolios!

The sooner you get on the list of the editors, the sooner you'll get seen. You may he tired and tempted to skip the 11:30 Club, but don't. This might be your place for your "Big Break". Editors are always looking for new talent and they often scout at the 11:30 Club.

I suggest bringing either a book or a laptop with your work. Just remember that if you have your portfolio on your laptop, be sure to bring your chargers and a suitable editing suite. I really like Photomechanic by Camera Bits. You can download a 30 day trial.

Keep your portfolios concise. Only show editors what you want to shoot. If you like portraits, show portraits. If you like sports, show sports. If you like both, keep them separate and show them separate.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Thanks,
Stacy

  1. Hey Stacy. Would the editors prefer to view our portfolios on our laptops or have prints to hold? My portfolio which specializes in what I like doing is on 13x19" paper, 15 images total in individual sleeves.
    Thanks! :)

  2. Well in your case, you should bring the prints. Just be sure to pack them well, so they survive the trip to NY. Please bring a back up on your lap top in case anything happens. Editors like to see both, so bring both. Each has their own preference.

  4. Hi Stacy,
How do we get on the list to see editors? Is this something I should have done already? Sorry if it's obvious, but I can't see any info on booking meetings.
    Cheers
