What to Expect on the First Day...

Don't stress about workshop. It's like a giant family reunion and you are the new cousin. Most of the staff, Black Team and contributors know each other well and are eager to welcome you into their family.

Be ready for all kinds of weather. I do not recommend any sandals or summer wear. I say layer, layer, layer. In Jeffersonville, it can be sunny one day and pouring rain the next. It's very brisk in the barn, so pack a warm jacket too.

You'll meet lots of people on the bus ride from NYC to Liberty (where your hotel is located). Take the opportunity to shake hands and share stories. These folks might be a friend for life - you never know. Just don't be shy.

Each student will get a welcome bag with "stuff" and your Team's colored bandanna. Obviously ours will be some type of pink color. I'm gunning for a darker pink, but we'll own the pepto-inspired pink too. We'll see. You will also be assigned a roommate.

Once you are checked into your hotel room, you'll get on a bus to "Thee Barn". You will be cheered the entire time. When I went as a student, I was so embarrassed. Looking back though, it was pretty cool. I think you'll like it.

You'll go into the barn and find your table, which is indicated by the bandanna in the center of the table. The bandannas will be shifted throughout the duration of the weekend, so everyone will get an opportunity to sit near and far from the stage. Then you will be yelling the rest of the weekend!
